In line with the OUR EASE Agenda of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to make life easier and education more accessible for all, the Ondo State Government has commenced operations of free shuttle buses and boats across the state as schools resumed for the new academic session.

During a monitoring exercise in Akure, the state capital, the Permanent Secretary of the Agency of Transport, Mr. Francis Ayodele, commended the governor for providing the necessary funds and manpower to run the shuttle services for the next 13 weeks. He described the gesture as a practical demonstration of the administration’s commitment to supporting education and easing the financial burden on families.

Mr. Ayodele assured parents and students that the shuttle buses in urban areas and speed boats in riverine communities are entirely free of charge. He urged beneficiaries to report any complaints directly to his office, adding that orderliness, compliance with rules, and cooperation with drivers and guides were expected of all students.

The initiative has been met with excitement and gratitude from parents, pupils, and students across the state. A parent, Mrs. Bolanle Adeoye, speaking at one of the bus stops in Akure, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for sustaining the scheme. She noted that removing the cost of daily transport fares would allow families to channel resources toward other pressing needs.

Mrs. Adeoye further prayed for the governor’s success in steering the state toward greater heights, emphasizing that the free shuttle service was a lifeline for many households. She described it as a major relief for parents already grappling with the cost of living.

Meanwhile, the free shuttle boats have also commenced operations in Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas, ensuring that children in riverine communities enjoy the same access to safe and free school transportation as their peers in urban centers.
