The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his steadfast dedication to the welfare of both workers and retirees in the state.
In a statement released on Monday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, described the governor’s focus on the well-being of senior citizens as “uncommon and deeply encouraging.”
The APC particularly praised the governor for initiating the payment of ₦1.4 billion in gratuities and other retirement benefits to retirees in Akure, following shortly after the recent disbursement of leave bonuses to serving civil servants.
“The commitment of the State Government, under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to the welfare of civil servants and retirees deserves commendation. It is glaringly an uncommon focus on the well-being of senior citizens,” the statement read in part.
The party highlighted that Aiyedatiwa’s actions reflect a genuine concern for both active and retired workers, noting that such policies are likely to boost morale within the civil service and foster trust in the system.
According to the APC, timely payment of entitlements not only motivates serving officers but also improves the quality of life for retirees after years of dedicated service, while also helping to reduce tendencies toward corrupt practices.
“Civil service is the acclaimed engine room of government, and one way to encourage those in service to concentrate on their duties is the assurance of retirement benefits,” the statement added.
The party further encouraged retirees to reciprocate the government’s efforts by supporting its development initiatives at the grassroots level and providing professional guidance to aid the progress of the state.
