Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has assured residents that all ongoing road projects in the state will be completed on schedule, despite delays caused by the rainy season.
He made this pledge on Sunday night at the Sound of Grace Concert held at MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, attributing the state’s prevailing peace to divine grace and the collective faith of its people.
“These are not quick-fix projects. The contractors are on site, and they will deliver. We only need patience,” Aiyedatiwa said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to quality service and inclusive governance.
“This government belongs to you. You voted for it and you can claim it. You only put me here to serve you and service I will give,” he added.
Speaking to thousands of worshippers at the concert, the governor described the gathering as a spiritual celebration that reflected God’s mercy upon Ondo State.
He linked the state’s harmony and progress to divine favour, stating, “when a man honours a vow made to God, heaven responds.”
The Sound of Grace Concert was organised by G-Sound CEO, Opeyemi Idiowo, fulfilling a vow he made to God twenty-five years ago following a childhood disappointment that inspired a lifelong mission.
Aiyedatiwa commended Idiowo for his dedication, perseverance, and faith, highlighting the sound engineer’s consistency and professionalism over the years.
“He made a vow when he saw a need that people should gather to worship and praise God. Today, we are witnesses to the fulfilment of that vow. This is proof that God honours those who honour Him,” the governor said.
He also praised G-Sound for embracing local innovation, noting that all the equipment used during the concert was produced in Akure. “During my campaign, G-Sound handled everything, all the sound systems across the local governments. We didn’t go outside for help. He did it professionally and I remain grateful,” Aiyedatiwa said.
“Everything used tonight was made here in Akure. This is what it means to believe in our people. When we build locally, we grow together,” he added.
The governor further acknowledged the church community for its prayers, attributing the state’s peace and unity to spiritual intercession. “Ondo State remains one of the most peaceful in the country because the church is standing in the gap, praying for the government and our people,” he said.
Idiowo shared the origins of the Sound of Grace vision, explaining how a worship event failed twenty-five years ago due to lack of sound equipment, prompting him to make a vow to God. “I went to a corner and knelt before God.
I said, ‘Your people are disappointed because there is no equipment, but if You can give me this equipment, I will use it to glorify You,’” he recalled. “That disappointment, the devil will pay for it.”
He said the concert marked the fulfilment of that promise, emphasising that all equipment used was locally produced. “Everything you see here is from Akure, not from outside. Akure is a blessed land. God has been faithful. Nothing is lost, nothing is broken,” Idiowo declared.
Among the dignitaries present were the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi; Rt. Hon. Victor Olabintan, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board; Kenneth Odusola, Director-General of OSRC Media Group; Gbenga Fasua, Chairman of Akure South Local Government; Bishop Felix Adejumo; Pastor John Collins; and Prophet Samson Ogunmodede, alongside other religious leaders.
