Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has expressed admiration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his leadership as commendable and noting that the President’s economic policies have contributed significantly to stabilizing Nigeria’s economy. The governor made these remarks during a thanksgiving service held in Akure to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
He highlighted the impact of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, referring to it as a major force behind national reforms and infrastructure advancement. “We are very proud of the exemplary leadership of the President. It is our collective duty to support him and remain loyal to his Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Reflecting on the significance of the country’s independence, the governor stated, “Independence is more than the lowering of one flag and the raising of another. It is a constant reminder of freedom, responsibility, and nationhood. We must not forget the sacrifices of our heroes who laid down their lives so that we may inherit a free and united Nigeria.”
He also referenced Nigeria’s ability to survive challenging times such as the civil war, religious and ethnic unrest, economic hardships, and the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that giving thanks was both appropriate and necessary.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the people of Ondo State that his government remains committed to inclusive growth and that no part of the state would be neglected. “In the last several months, much has been achieved, yet I stand before you to humbly say that we are only just beginning. By God’s grace, we shall not relent until every community in the state can feel the touch of development,” he added.
He emphasized that his leadership is anchored on service delivery, transparency, and progress, pledging to continue implementing impactful projects across the state.
At the event, Rt. Rev. Joseph Alaba Olusola, Chairman of the Board of Vining College and Bishop of Ijesa North Diocese, called on Nigerians to pursue repentance, unity, and a renewed moral compass. “The new thing must mean honest management of our resources, industrial growth, and an economy that works for all. Our young people are the future of this nation. God’s new thing must empower our youth with education, innovation, jobs, and government leadership,” he stated.
Ven. Dr. Moses Adetunbi, Rector and Vicar of the college, also commended the governor for ongoing infrastructural development, particularly road construction beyond the state capital, and for ensuring regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensions.
The service concluded with prayers for the governor, his team, and the entire people of the state, led by former Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Bishop Michael Ipinmoye.
