At the first anniversary of A Night of Praise in Ondo State, Prince Dr. (Gen.) Olu Bajowa, CFR, OFR, the Jagunmolu of Ikaleland, commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa for his faith-inspired and people-centered leadership.
He described the event as a reflection of the Governor’s commitment to God and to the people of Ondo State, noting that it was a privilege to worship alongside him and other dignitaries on such a spiritually uplifting occasion.
Reflecting on the Governor’s one year in office, General Bajowa highlighted major achievements, particularly in infrastructure development across the state. He expressed admiration for the transformation witnessed along major towns and cities, affirming that Ondo people made the right choice in electing Ayedatiwa.
While applauding these successes, he urged the government to develop bitumen resources, establish an airport in the Okitipupa–Ayeka–Igbokoda axis, and pursue the proposed deep seaport to boost industrialization.
On security, the retired General emphasized the crucial role of traditional rulers and chiefs in grassroots intelligence gathering and community policing.
He advised that they should be allocated a share of the security vote to enhance their effectiveness in combating crime. He also recommended public sensitization campaigns that encourage citizens to embrace the principle.
Speaking on education, General Bajowa commended the Governor’s efforts in employing more teachers and establishing new schools.
However, he lamented the neglect of History in the curriculum, describing it as a serious disservice to national development. He further expressed concern about the growing menace of cultism in schools and the erosion of moral values in society, warning that the blind pursuit of material wealth is weakening character and integrity, while fueling corruption across the nation.
